After the shock for Trish Kennan‘s premature death, Broadcast‘s story seemed to last stop. James Cargill had put into play all the orthodoxy and the imagination that let them out of the bands of good hopes: pop temptations were set aside for creative ideas that came from other forms of art. The previous collaboration with director Peter Strickland offered the right corollary to the archaic romance of the duo, made up of shadows and suggestions, as well as brilliant harmonic solutions rich in quotations but always projected in the future. The soundtrack goes back and forth from Goblin‘s music for Dario Argento‘s movies, but “Berberian Sound Studio”, released on Warp Records, has the same naive and spontaneous charm.
